Your first Brazilian wax: what to expect at Dewdrop

Thinking about your first Brazilian wax can bring up questions that a service name alone does not answer. How much hair is removed? Which appointment should you choose? What if you feel nervous or have sensitive skin?

At Dewdrop Massage & Esthetics in Arvada, Heather offers a dedicated First-Time Brazilian Wax appointment: 45 minutes for $75. Her approach starts with a conversation about your preferences and what to expect, with check-ins as she works. Heather is a Colorado-licensed and insured esthetician who uses BushBalm Pro hard wax.

Start with the appointment that fits your visit

Dewdrop lists separate first-time and returning Brazilian appointments. For your first Brazilian appointment with Heather at Dewdrop, choose First-Time Brazilian Wax, even if you have been waxed elsewhere. The longer appointment leaves room to discuss the service and ask questions.

Brazilian Wax — Returning Client is $65 for 30 minutes. This appointment is for clients who have already had a Brazilian appointment with Heather at Dewdrop and are returning for maintenance. If you are unsure which appointment to select, ask Heather before booking.

The waxing services page lists the current options, prices and appointment lengths together.

Decide how much coverage you want

A Brazilian is the most extensive bikini-area service on Heather’s menu. A Bikini Line appointment focuses on the outer edge of the bikini area; Full Bikini reserves time for more coverage than Bikini Line.

Those names are a starting point for a conversation. Tell Heather what you want removed and what you prefer to leave. If there is a particular area you are wondering about, confirm it before choosing your appointment.

You do not need to arrive knowing the vocabulary. Describing your preference in your own words gives Heather something useful to work with.

Heather welcomes clients of all genders, sexual orientations, skin types and hair types. Brazilian (P) appointments are not currently offered. Contact her if you need help confirming that a listed service fits your needs.

Prepare your hair and skin

Heather recommends about ¼ inch of hair, roughly the length of a grain of rice. Avoid shaving or trimming immediately before your appointment. If you think trimming is needed, ask Heather first.

Heather asks you to avoid tanning and nonprescription exfoliating acids for one week before your wax. Ask Heather about retinol, retinoids and product-specific timing. For prescribed products, ask your prescribing clinician rather than interrupting treatment to book an appointment.

Bring your questions and relevant skin information

Tell Heather before booking about your skin-care products, medications and recent procedures. Do not wax while taking isotretinoin (Accutane) or within six months of taking it. Ask your prescribing clinician about medication-related concerns; do not stop prescribed medication just to book a wax.

Mention skin sensitivities, reactions to hair removal, current irritation, and recent procedures such as Botox or filler. Retinol, retinoids, antibiotics and blood thinners may raise questions that need individual advice. Do not wax sunburned or very sensitive skin.

You can read the American Academy of Dermatology’s overview of hair-removal methods for the general background behind these cautions.

Speak up during the appointment

Tell Heather if you are nervous or have never been waxed before. She can accommodate a quiet appointment, wearing your AirPods, or conversation to help distract you. You can ask questions and request a pause. Draping options are provided for intimate waxing. Discomfort varies by person and area.

Aftercare and your next appointment

For the first 24–48 hours, Heather recommends avoiding hot showers, heat, sun, workouts, tight clothing, swimming and intimate contact. She will discuss aftercare and follow-up for your skin and the area waxed at your appointment. Waxing frequency and hair growth vary. Heather will cover follow-up timing and an aftercare routine, including any concerns about ingrown hairs.

Pregnancy and period-related questions

Let Heather know before booking if you are pregnant, especially if this is your first wax. Heather does not offer waxing after 30 weeks of pregnancy. This is her service policy; ask your prenatal clinician about individual medical concerns.

For intimate waxing during your period, Heather requires a tampon or menstrual cup. Let her know beforehand and discuss any comfort concerns before proceeding.

Booking and schedule changes

A card is required to reserve your waxing appointment. Your card details are saved securely; no deposit is charged when you book. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. For changes within 24 hours, contact Heather directly.

If you are running late for your waxing appointment, contact Heather before arriving. She allows a 10-minute grace period. Last-minute appointments are welcome when openings are available; Heather does not accept walk-ins.
