How I shape a massage session

At the start, I ask where you feel tension, what has changed lately, and how much time you want devoted to specific areas. Some visits call for detailed work around one stubborn spot. Others call for a slower, full-body pace. We make that decision together.

I trained at Denver Integrative Massage School and use Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial and neuromuscular techniques, cupping, and Thai-inspired movement when they fit. A useful session is not a checklist of techniques; I select what serves your goal and change course when you give me feedback.

Integrative massage: one plan, several tools

Integrative massage is the main way I work. If your neck and shoulders are the priority, we can start there and check how the upper back and arms relate to what you feel. If you want to rest, we can slow down and leave more room for broad, comfortable work.

The session can include focused pressure, long Swedish strokes, sustained myofascial work, or stretch & movement. I do not need to fit all of those into one visit. The mix depends on what you tell me and how your body responds as we go.

Thai-inspired stretching within your massage

Movement can change the feel of a massage. I may guide a shoulder or hip through a comfortable range of motion, pause in an assisted stretch, or adjust your position so I can work on an area from another angle. It is a collaborative part of the session, with regular check-ins about range and pressure.

This is Thai-inspired movement woven into an integrative massage, not a separate traditional Thai massage appointment. Tell me if stretching is a priority. If you would rather stay still and settle into hands-on work, we can keep the session that way.

Deep tissue work without a pressure contest

When one area keeps drawing your attention, deep tissue work gives us time to slow down and work with it carefully. I may use broad pressure first, then more specific contact around a shoulder, hip, or back area. We can spend more time there instead of rushing through a full-body sequence.

More pressure is not automatically more useful. Tell me when a technique is working, when it is too intense, or when the area needs a different approach. Deep tissue can sit alongside lighter Swedish work or assisted movement in the same visit.

Sports massage for athletes and active adults

Whether you climb, lift, run, hike, or spend long days on your feet, your activity helps shape the session. Tell me what you have been doing, which areas keep drawing your attention, and whether you have training or an event coming up. We can choose areas to focus on, pace, pressure, and assisted movement around those priorities.

Sports massage uses the same integrative booking choices at Dewdrop. Choose 60, 90 or 120 minutes, and we will decide how to use that time together. You can ask for attention to a specific area or let me know how much stretching you would like.

Myofascial release and neuromuscular techniques

These are two tools I may use within an integrative session. Myofascial work here can involve slow, sustained contact over an area. Neuromuscular techniques can involve more specific pressure around muscles that feel tender or tense. We can combine that focused work with broader massage and adjust location, pace, and pressure as you give feedback.

You can describe what you feel in everyday words. I will explain the work we are considering and check in as we go.

How much time should I book?

60 minutes · $100

Choose an hour when you want to focus on one or two priorities, or when you want a straightforward full-body massage with a lighter level of detail.

90 minutes · $150

This leaves room to work through a few specific areas and still include a fuller massage. It is a good starting point when you want both focused work and time to slow down.

120 minutes · $200

Choose the longer appointment when several areas need attention, you want more assisted movement, or you would like the session to unfold without a tight pace.

Studio and mobile massage

At the Arvada studio, we have a dedicated treatment space where you can settle in and let me guide the session. Visits are by appointment, and the scheduler shows current openings.

I also offer mobile massage when an appointment at home fits better. Availability and pricing differ from studio sessions, so check the mobile options on the Services page before booking.

A little about Jay

My own experience with injury and recovery is part of why I became a massage therapist. I remember how much it mattered to meet someone who listened, noticed the details, and adjusted the work to what was actually happening in my body. That is the kind of attention I try to bring to each appointment.
